Governance & Quality

Our role is to support, not replace, the Responsible Person. Guidance reflects published regulations and official government guidance, and we recommend independent legal or fire safety advice where duties are complex. ASB Quality is working towards FIRAS third party certification; that accreditation is currently in progress and we do not claim any fire door certification scheme until it has been awarded and evidenced.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the regulations require for fire doors?

In multi occupied residential buildings over 11 metres, Responsible Persons must check communal fire doors at least every three months and use best endeavours to check flat entrance doors at least every twelve months. In all multi occupied residential buildings with two or more domestic premises, residents must be given information on the importance of fire doors.

What if residents do not provide access?

We record every access attempt and outcome so you can evidence your best endeavours, and we can arrange follow up visits.

Can you prepare resident fire door information?

Yes. We can draft clear resident information on keeping fire doors shut, not tampering with closers and reporting faults, for your review and distribution.
